A privilege and not a right. Mikao Usui gives us the Reiki precept of “Just for today be grateful.” But how often do we qualify that gratitude with ‘yes I am grateful as long as it is still my show.’
Being grateful means many things, one of which involves allowing others to be in this world with us, doing their thing the way they do it and helping us in the ways that they can. It is about realizing in each moment that our being here is a great and grand privilege. Not a right. A right indicates that somehow we are in charge of this life. And my dear friends, I am learning, as I imagine so are you, that we are truly not in charge. Not one tiny bit.
But if we can learn to have the grace to accept the help of others, at every turn in life, to know that we are not in charge and we do not have control and that every breath we take is a privilege that we can be most grateful for, then our lives can assume a state of grace and oneness with the Divine energy that flows all around us.
Practicing Reiki is practicing that gratitude, is practicing that acceptance of Divine energy flowing through us, of heartfelt love being one with our being.
Today I will practice gratitude by being thankful for every gift life gives whether it is pleasant or by my
own estimation unpleasant. Even the unpleasant gifts are still gifts that are being offered for us to get closer to the Light of Understanding.
Step into the flow of Oneness, step into the follow of gratitude, step into the flow of privilege. It is a privilege in fact just to know you and share this space together. As One. Namaste.
